Question
hi chip,
I am a trainer in Germany and have just heard something about the "powerstep"?
this is supposed to be something new which improves the speed of the ball?
Do you know anything about this and if so how is it performed ?
Thanks once again and carry on the good work

Jon

Answer
I am not sure if the use of a power step increases ball speed.  It is widely believed to increase leverage and leg drive through the release.  Most of the modern power players show evidence of this powerstep.

It is almost a delay in the timing to allow the bowler to drive into the last step.  It does require a lot of patience in order to not get the body well ahead of the ball.  Just shorten the next to last step of the approach and allow the ball to drop into the release position while driving into the slide.

Good luck,
Chip
