Question Hi
I have enjoyed reading the answers to the many questions that have been asked. My problem is that I would like to throw a hook. Most of the time the ball spins like a top and when it hits the pins I get a good count. I can't seem to get it. Should i turn my hand on the down swing or try to turn my wrist after the ball rolls off my thumb? Are there any pratice drills I can do at home to help with this.
I have a Brunswick Power Groove DRY/R
Jim
Thanks in advance.
Answer It sounds like you are overturning the ball. All you need to throw a hook is to rotate your thumb from 1 oclock to 11 oclock during the release. If you can master this roll, you will then be able to learn to get under the ball over time and increase your rev rate.
One of the best drills for the home is to toss a football underhand into a chair and try to make it spiral.
