Bowling/Step away

Question
I have difficulty with aiming, and I think that it has a lot ot do with how i read the lane and where I am looking, particularly with spares.

When I step away, with strait shots as well as hooks, should I step directly towards the arrow i am aiming at?

Second, whenever i am throwing towards the 7 or 4 pin (I am right handed) i almost always miss far left.  And i find myself aiming far more right than one would intuitively think.  For example, if throwing a straight ball at the 1 pin, i stand with my right foot on the center dot, and aim  between the center and third arrow, and it hits on target.

Is there something wrong, or do i just need to adjust more?

Answer
You should try walking towards the foul line (straight) and then shaking hands with your target.  Also, you may find that when you are looking at a particular target your ball will consistently go a few boards left or right of where you are looking.  If you can adjust for this then you should be able to look at a certain board and be able to predict where your ball is going to go.  Let me know if this is any help.  Also, make sure that your shoulders are square at the foul line.
