Bowling/THUMB HOLE

Question
i bowled earlier in the week and afterwards i notice that my thumb had a piece of skin removed just to the side of the top joint. I wanted to know if the cause was  that i had too tight of a grip, tight thumb hole of just the consequence of making a bad shot. Also is there any equipment that would help in with this? I'm rt handed fingertip grip with thumb slugs. Also how can you tell if a bowler is a stroker or a tweener?

Answer
Two possible issues is the pitch or angle the thumb hole is drilled or the size of the thumb hole, although I might look at pitch first.  If the hole was too big, you would tear more towards the back of the thumb.
If there is a difference at all between the stoker and the tweener it would be the ability of the tweener to create more hook.
