Bowling/Track flare

Question
Hi Chip,
I was told that track flare is solely created by the bowler in the release. I find that hard to accept. I believe that it is caused by the dynamics of the ball. The amount of flare is dependent on the pin placement. Please help. Thanks.

Answer
The flare potential of a ball is due to the core design and the drilling layout.  How much flare that is created is due to the bowlers release.  The higher rev rate player will produce more flare than a lower rev player.

If you place the pin on the axis or in the ball track, the flare potential will be reduced.  If you place the pin in the leverage position, the flare potential is increased.

Good luck,
Chip
