Bowling/V2 drillings.

QuestionHi Chip,
I am a righty, before we even begin:)
I have a v2 sweet with a pin-out. It is drilled with the pin at 1:30 and the center of gravity is at the midline between the thumb and finger holes. I have a v2 dry that is the same except the pin is above the ring finger hole. My question is if I were to put the pin on a new v2 clean from 1:30 to say 2 or 3 o'clock, how will that effect the ball's reaction in relation to the drillings of the sweet and dry (cg's all the same). Also, if I were to move the center of gravity out closer to 3 o'clock, how would the reactions differ with pins at 12 o'clock, 1 o'clock, and 2 o'clock.
I would like to mimic the hook of the sweet, but with less hook. Breakpoints the same and the arc the same, just less hook for if I'm kinda tired.
Another quick question, which will hook more, at release with thumb at 12 o'clock or 10 o'clock?
Any evaluation on all of this is appreciated.
I know it's a lot of technical questioning.
Thank you,
Jay.
AnswerChanging the layout will have a very small difference in ball reaction. Core design and surface will affect things more. I am not sure if you would see enough difference in the drillings to make much difference. However, moving the pin closer to your axis will tame the ball down a bit. Moving the CG closer to your axis will try to get the ball in a roll a bit sooner.
The release point difference would be the 10 oclock would have a later and sharper breakpoint than the 12 oclock.
If you are looking for a ball that would be between the 2 V2s you have now, you might want to take a look at the Black Ice. Drill it with a bit stronger layout than you have in your V2s and polish it.
Good luck,
Chip
