Bowling/choosing a ball

Question
I'm a beginner,
I bowl about a 130   (110-150)
I intend start bowling more regularly and buy myself a ball.
I currently use a 15-16 but I find the drilled holes uncomfortabley large.
my ball speed is very fast,
and straight.
at the moment a 'good/?' strike for me is when the ball goes about a 1/3 of the distance of the lane just(~1cm)above the boards and comes down in the middle.

will a personal drilled ball correct this problem ?//
and are there any types and makes of ball you can reccomend?
I can find alot of discussion on flare and hooking, but nothing reccommened for a fast bowler/?
and do i also need to go up to a higher weight.?
(extra 2"/)

-any suggestions would be appreciated
cheers mike

Answer
Mike,
You will find a custom fit ball makes a world of difference. You might try slowing down a bit, assuming that by fast you mean too fast. You don't want to just throw missiles at the pins, you want to give the ball a chance to roll. Being faster, you will need an aggressive ball drilled to roll early. Have the pro shop operator watch you bowl when you buy your new ball, I can give you general info., he can get very specific. He can recommend the right ball, and correct drilling. Good luck, Joe
