Bowling/going from conventional grip to semi finger tip for a right handed reverse hook bowler

Question
Hi Chip,
I am 50 year old female, been bowling for 22 years, conventional grip, bowl on (2)leagues, average 159-161. Would my game improve if I went from conventional grip to semi finger-tip? I've tried bowling with a hook but it hurts my wrist, I'm not use to it. Any suggestions? Thanks

Answer
I would not recommend a semi fingertip grip.  It never made sense to me to try and grip the ball where your fingers will not bend.  If you want to try a different grip, go with a relaxed fingertip.  It is less stressful on the hand than even a conventional grip, as long as it is fitted correctly.  The fingertip would allow you to roll the ball off of your hand and be able to create some hook potential.  It should not cause you pain to try and throw an affective hook.

Good luck,
Chip
