Bowling/different balls for strikes and spares

Question
I have just gotten into bowling recently and I see that the pro's use one ball for throwing strikes and another for spares.  I know that they are different types of balls but are they typically the same weight or do they use a higher/lower weight for the spare ball?

Answer
Pat,
I know of a few people who will throw lighter balls at spares, but not many. Most throw the same weight, the spare ball is plastic which will not grab the lane. It will go straight. The reason you don't want to change weights is this can throw off your timing, and cause you to over throw the ball. Both can cause you to miss your mark, missing the spare. Thanks Joe
