-----Question-----
I have a bowler that has trouble hanging on to the ball if I put left or reverse pitch in his thumb I have gone to 1/8 reverse and a 1/4 right and now he is losing skin on the left part of his thumb any advice would be appreciated
-----Answer-----
What kind of span does the bowler have?
I would think that 1/4 right might be a bit excessive.  You might be able to reduce the right and the reverse at the same time.  Not everyone has to have reverse in the thumb, even with a fingertip.

Let me know what span we are talking about.

Answer
If the bowler uses slugs, I would try a new slug and just go zero on the pitches.  If no slug is used, fill the hole to the top with plug and drill in the same place with the new pitches.  His span is not so long as to need much reverse, if any.  If you try zero and he rubs one side of the thumb or the other, then add some lateral pitch in that direction.

Good luck,
Chip
