Bowling/Does the drilling affect the curve?

Question
Yeah i was just pretty much wondering if the location of the drill affects the curve of my ball.  Because I just bought an Ebonite fire element ball.. and i cant seem to get it to hook.

Answer
THe layout used when drilling a ball can affect the shape of the curve, but not how much.  You can set up a ball to hook later, sharper, earlier, or smoother.  You can also later the surface by sanding or polishing.  Sanding will get the ball to hook sooner and polishing will get the ball to hook later.

If the problem is not with your release technique, then I would look at ball surface as the culprit.

Good luck,
