Bowling - drilling bowling ball

Expert: Chip Aki - 2/4/2005

Question
i like to bowl a stright ball, i have capabilities to drill a ball but i don't know where to drill the holes, i have redrilled holes in 2 old balls to fit my fingers, the MB on both are not the same, the offsets are opposite sides of pin mark. i am right handed. the holes in the old balls fit me fine so i made a pattern from them to know how to space my holes. a diagram would be nice if possible.  thank you  Don LOWDER

Answer
If you throw the ball straight, the difference in the location of the mass bias will not affect the roll of the ball.  It is a minor reaction change to the bowlers that hook the ball.  I would not worry about it.  If both balls have the same surface, you should not notice a reaction difference.

Good luck,
Chip

Are the pins located in the same location on both balls?
