Bowling/finding PAP before drilling

QuestionChip,
I hope you can answer this. No one else I've asked seems to know. Even answers from you that I've read, don't. I haven't a clue when it comes to drilling but from what I understand, drilling begins with the PAP. Pin placement is then measured from there (PAP) and so on and so forth. Everybody's PAP is different, depending on their own release. Sooo.. How do you find the PAP on an undrilled ball? You can't throw it undrilled, at least not properly. It seems to me, from what I've read, that everybody is drilling their ball FIRST, finding their oil line, taking the proper measurements, and then find their PAP.
I don't understand. Please explain, step by step, in what order do you take your measurements and drill a previously undrilled ball. No need to go into specifics. I understand how to find my PAP in a drilled ball, just not how to find it in an undrilled one to start the drilling process.
Does any of that make sense?
Thanx,
Tom
AnswerYou have to find each persons PAP off of a drilled ball. Once you have that info, which will have a horizontal and vertical number, you can then use the info to lay out a new ball.
Find the spot what will put the CG and Pin the proper distance from your PAP. ( what I just reffered to as the spot). Now measure from that spot using your PAP numbers. As an example, mine is 5 3/4 horizontal and 3/16 vertical. I would measure down 3/16 and to the left 5 3/4. This will then be the center of my grip. ( those numbers are in inches)
I hope this helps.
Good luck,
Chip
