Bowling/forearm and finger pain

Question
Chip,
My buddies and I have taken up bowling in the past month. I've been bowling frequently for the past few weeks, and now I'm starting to develop pain in my forearm and in my ring and middle fingers. I use a 2-finger grip. Could the pain be a result of bad form? Is there a way to avoid/alleviate the pain? Should I consider purchasing a wrist support or should I save my money?

Answer
Using the 2 finger release can cause extra stress on the body.  Having said that, there are bowlers that are successful with that style.  It is still possible that your style is causing some pain and it could also be the fit or weight of the ball you are using.  I would suggest having the local pro shop operator watch you bowl and check the weight and fit of the ball you are using.  He or she would be able to give you some tips to improve your game and lessen the pain.

Good luck,
Chip
