Bowling/full roll drilling

Question
Hi Chip.

I have a V2 Sanded.  It is drilled for a full roll.  The pin is at the 8 o'clock position.  I throw a high roll with all my other balls(not full roll drillings) and get a high oil track just to the left of the finger and thumb holes.  When I throw the sanded I get a track between the finger and thumb holes.  The shot still seems effective.  Can you explain why this happens, and what effect this drilling is having on the V2 sanded?  Also, What difference does it make if you throw with a rotation of the wrist from a 3 o'clock thumb position to a 12 o'clock position of the thumb vs. not rotating the wrist at all, meening the thumb starts at 12 o'clock and stays there through the whole swing to release?

Thanks.

Jay.

Answer
The layout on the V2 will cause the ball to roll like a full roller.  It can be an effective layout, but a bit noisy.  I have used that layout a few times and it plays track shots really well.
The more rotation you have of the wrist, the more spin, or lowering of the track, you create.  Of course, that only happens if there is counterclockwise rotation thoughout the release.  If the hand rotates clockwise at all, the ball will have a tendancy to track over the holes.

Good luck,
Chip
