i was wondering if you could get hook from a straight ball if u threw it the right way, i dont want to spend 200 bucks on a hook ball and so i was looking at a 70 dollar straight ball

You can make it hook some with enough rpms or dry enough lanes, but it won't hook anything like a reactive solid, pearl, or particle ball. It is like driving around an icy corner with slicks on your car vs snow tires. All of the ball companies make entry level balls in the $90-$130 price range that will hook much more than a plastic spare ball. Inquire at your local pro shop and tell them exactly what you are looking for and how much you want to spend. They should be glad to help you.
