Bowling/span

Question
I bowl 2 nites per week and hold a 200 average. My style is down and in. Where I put the ball down is about as far out as it goes. Due to a non related injury at home I had to alter my grip temporarily. Instead of putting my middle finger in to the 1st joint, I only put it in halfway between the tip and 1st joint. It cut down my speed but much to my surprise I had great success with it. My ring finger was in normally to the 1st joint. I swung the ball a little further out and got it further down the lane before it dove to the pocket with power. What could this mean? Is it possible that I need the span on me middle finger a little longer than my ring finger? Have you ever heard of this? Any ideas? Thanx and have a nice day!!!

Answer
THere have been many bowlers that have bowled with a dropped ring finger.  This tends to make it easier to rotate around the ball.  You have essentially accomplished the same thing.  As long as you do not develop any pain, I would give it a try.

Good luck,
