Bowling/splits

Question
What is the typical cause for lefties to leave a pocket, 7-9 split, or righties to leave the 8-10 split, on what looks like a "good hit"?

Answer
Their are a couple of reasons that those splits are left.  The ball may be rolling out due to too much friction, or the ball may be sliding due to carrydown of the lane oil.  A lighter ball would have a bit more tendancy to leave those than the heavier ones as well.

Good luck,
