Question
Hi. I am a novice bowler but i can hook. My average is still only around 140. My question is do professional bowlers change there standing position depending on where the pins are? Or do they always stand in the same position and throw at the same marks but just put more or less strength and more or less hook depending on the pin position?

Answer
Kenji,
Definetly. Considering most oil patterns, there are too many variables to take into account. If you miss judge your speed, or amount of hook, you can easily miss, especially on PBA patterns. That's why you see pros (and top amateurs) use plastic balls and throw straight at spares. What marks they use depends on how they throw at a given spare, and what the oil pattern is like.
Thanks (for a good question) Joe
