Question
Hey, I am about to buy a ball and if I buy a ball that weighs 15Ibs what will the weight be after drilling? The ball I have now is 15 Ibs and a couple ounces after drilling , so does that mean the ball I have now is a 16 lb ball or 15? also if I don't specify pin placement to manufacture will it be ok because I'm not sure how to figure it out

Answer
I drill a 1 3/8 hole for thumb slug & 31/32 for finger grips in 15 & 16 pound balls & only loose 2-3 ounces.
If the gross was 16 or above before drilling, it is considered a 16.If it started at 15.8+ ,it is considered a med. to heavy 15.
Pin placement means allot! If you want exotic drilling for certain types of conditions say 10% of 100% of conditions,
a pin out beyond 4" (pro pin) is best. These drillings may not work on most conditions not drilled for.If you get a sponge(very soft high reactive) ball,A pin above the fingers will delay the ball way down the lane before it turns in.If you like a good midlane reaction (around 35-40 feet),a pin closer than 4" is ok.Anything closer than 2",will not get your $ worth out of the weightblock. It will mainly be controlled by surface than weightblock.A cranker might want a 4"-5" pin. While a stroker would like a 2" pin.
The most important thing for weight is,if it feels right for atleast 3 games without you getting tired or if too light gets wild(uncontrollable).
If you do not specify pin at ordering, it is luck of the draw.If you are willing to pay over $200 , I would specify pin.Find out first what you want the ball to do for you & to compliment your style. Then order right pin.
