Question
My boxer has had 6 very healthy lovely pups.  They will having their 8 week jab in 2 weeks - they all have lovely new homes to go to.  Should i let them all go in one day or should I let 2 go one day then 2 another day and so on?  What is the best for the mum?

Answer
Congratulations on the puppies!  I suggest not letting them go all at once.  Of course it is different with every mom, but this can cause unnecessary stress.  It would be wise to schedule a weekend when you would be having them picked up.  This would give you a day for 2 pups and so on.  Doing this on a weekend also allows you to be there with her to comfort her while her babies leave.

Allow the mother to meet the people who will be taking the pups, while it may seem silly this can help her stress level.  Reassuring her that her pups will be in good hands and comforting her throughout the process lowers her stress level.  This will also help the pups transition, as this can also be hard for them.

Good Luck!
