Question
I just had my 1 year old boxer neutered. Four days after surgery he started displaying aggression towards anyone entering our home (other than family). Is there any chance that this is a result of the surgery - he had an undescended testicle, so major surgery was involved - and do you have any suggestions?  He is usually very sweet!

Answer
Hi Kelly. Usually, having a dog neutered helps with these problems. I'm not saying that the surgery didn't contribute. Is there any way that he had some issues before the neutering? I'd talk to your vet, and see what he thinks. It may come down to having to take him to obedience classes, or getting a trainer to figure out what happened. He would be better able than I to actually see what your dog does, and know how to correct it.

I have owned Boxers for twelve years, and have bred them for eight. I also took a vet assistance course just for my dogs. I have shown in dogs shows, just not a lot.

Education/Credentials
I took a two semester course to become a vet assistant. I didn't go further in it because I had a child.
