Question
I have an 11 month old male boxer. He has a white chin and recently, I noticed that there were two "bald" spots that were all pink. Then one got so raw that it bled and there has been a scab there for a while. That healed and then recently, opened again (even though its been pink ever since and no hair grows there). Now, we are noticing tiny little pink spots on his upper lip area. We were just wondering if this is something to be concerned over and we should go to the vet, or if its just irritated or what? Let me know what you think. Thank you!

Answer
Hi. It could be a very different things. Are you using a plastic food dish? Some dogs are allergic to the plastic. I would highly suggest getting him to the vet to see what's going on. It could be something as simple as ring worm, acne, or a few other things. This is honestly your best bet. Your vet will be able to figure this out pretty fast, I'd say, and will be able to give you something to help treat it. Good luck, and if I can help with anythng else, let me know.

Education/Credentials
I took a two semester course to become a vet assistant. I didn't go further in it because I had a child.
