Question
Hello.  I have 2 boxers who are everything to our family!  One is a female and one is a male.  Both are beautiful fawn and white with great shape and wonderful personalities. My female will be 1yr old in March 08 and she is just coming out of heat for the first time.  She should go back in around October 08.  Being that my male is fixed (He's almost 5yrs old and considering the health problems they are prone to, my vet recommended getting him fixed.) My cousin has an all white male boxer around the same age as my female and we were wanting to breed them.  They are both beautiful dogs with wonderful tempermants and we know they would have just as beautiful puppies.  The problem is, we were told that only licensed breeders were allowed to breed a pure white boxer and that we could get into trouble if we bred them and sold the puppies.  Is this true?  We had both agreed that if we could breed our dogs, serious background checks would be done on prospective owners.  Neither of us are for puppy mills and just trying to make a buck.  We want our puppies to have good homes, preferrably in our area just in case.  Could you give me more info on the breeding guidelines for all white boxers?  Also, any suggestions for first time breeders?

Answer
Ashley, no one can delegate who can or can not breed. NO ONE.

There is absolutely NO LAW that prohibits breeding a white Boxer. NONE.

Tell whoever it is that told you that to go check himself. He's an idiot.

***White Boxers are genetically defunct of the pigment gene needed for hair color. They are not albino. They simply do not have the gene for fawn or brindle color.

DO NOT BREED HER YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is still a pup herself. DO NOT BREED A BITCH UNTIL SHE IS 3 years old.

Maybe 2- 1/2 to 3 years old. Then she is mature enough physically and emotionally to handle being pregnant and nursing. It is a very taxing job on the bitch and drains her health as well.

I have 4 week old puppies and my bitch has lost more-than-she-should weight and I have to feed her puppy chow with her regular food for additional protein, vitamin supplements, Pediolyte added to her water, canine replacement milk for added health and she is still drained over 5 puppies.

I have a Boxer Puppy Application that I require ALL perspective owners to fill out and sign. I choose who is right to own one of my puppies. I also advertise in my town ONLY, no where else, and NO ONE that does not, or has not, ever owned a Boxer need apply- they are disqualified.

I call the shots- I choose.

They MUST have a fenced in backyard for potty
