Question I was wondering. I have a male and a female boxer that I am trying to breed. Today is her 12th day but only the 10th day from the day that she started bleeding. Today was the first day that my male started mounting her. They did not tie but he was trying. This is both of there first times. This is her second heat but even still I know that they are still new at this. So even though they are both new will they be able to tie or do I need to step in and help any. He is a little shorter than she is and I am worried that he is having a problem with that. If you have any ideas that would be truly grateful.
Answer First of all, you should NOT breed her if she's only having a second heat. She is far too young. DO NOT BREED HER UNTIL SHE IS AT LEAST 2 years old!
Secondly, let nature take its course, they will get it right on their own in their own good time like any first-timers.
But, do not breed her yet because she is not old enough physically and emotionally for puppies. Having pups can near kill a female from conception through weening of the pups. It drains them physically and has emotional reprecussions.
