Boxers/Boxer in labor

Question
I adopted a 2 1/2 year old boxer from someone I meet online that had her tied to a tree all day and night. We adopted her on June 3rd and realized last week that she was pregnant. She is now panting and nesting. I have no clue how many puppies she has in there or what they are mixed with. Is boxers known for having any problems during labor? I am also pregnant and due in 2 weeks so I do not have the extra money right now to take her to the vet. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Melissa. Boxers are one of those breeds that are known for c-sections. Count the placentas as they come out, if one's left in there, it cause a nasty infection and even death. If you think there's something left in there, you can take her to the vet for the clean out shot. It's usually not that expensive. You may have to cut the cords yourself because the way their mouths are made, it's really hard for them to do it correctly and not hurt the puppies. Make her a whelping box in a quiet room. If you have anymore questions at all, feel free to holler. Good luck!

I have owned Boxers for twelve years, and have bred them for eight. I also took a vet assistance course just for my dogs. I have shown in dogs shows, just not a lot.

Education/Credentials
I took a two semester course to become a vet assistant. I didn't go further in it because I had a child.
