Question
Hi my 3 year old boxer bitch has just had her second litter of puppies, she had 9 puppies last February 4 were born normally but she had to have a c section to deliver the other 5. two of which were stillborn as 1 was stuck in the birth canal, she had a terrible time.so i thought long and hard about breeding her again as we love her dearly and our 4 year old male.but after doing some research i realized at 17 months she was far too young to breed and it was obviously too much for her body to cope with. so i decided to breed again she had her second litter last week and sailed through it to the extend that she wanted to go on her usual morning walk the next day lol. but this litter she only had two puppies, after such a large litter last time this came as a real shock i sat up all night waiting for more. if i were to breed her again would this be the case next time? thanks for your help jackie

Answer
It honestly just depends. The sire determins the sex, mom determins how many. It's really hard to tell for sure if she will have a small litter again next time, or not. Keep her on a really good food, wormed, and plenty of exercise. That's all you really can do. It's up to her.
