Question
Hi my 6 month old boxer puppy is loosing her hair, always itching and had bumps all over her. The bumps look almost like acne with a white puss inside. Do you have any idea what this is. We brought her to the vet and they didn't know what it was. We thought it was a allergic reaction to wheat and put her on a hypoallergenic dog food. She is just getting worse! Help!

Answer
First, let me say that I advise you to find a new vet.

Any reputable and good vet would not dismiss this as, "I don't know" and send you home.

He/she should have taken a swab of a pussy sore and examined under a microscope, and any other test.

More than likely, put her on a broad spectrum oral antibiotic and prescribe Panlog topical ointment for her skin.

In the meantime, bathe her in a luke warm bath mixed with Aveeno Oatmeal Bath treatment. You can buy the Aveeno Oatmeal for baths at the grocery store and pharmacy.

The oatmeal relieves the discomfort and itching that is associated with skin allergies, rashes, etc.

Find a new vet ASAP. Get her to a vet that will know what it is and test her with a skin scraping in order to treat her correctly.

The outbreak can be caused by allergies but are now infected with a bacteria.

Please get her to a competent vet that will test.
