Question

My boy
I have a 16 week old male puppy.  He is my 3rd boxer overall but the only one I currently have.  My question to you is when is a good time to get him a brother or sister?  And which gender would be best for him if it even matters?

Answer
Your boxer is adorable, he looks like he is going to be a big boy as well! The right time to bring a new dog in really depends on each situation.  At this point he is still a puppy and adding a new dog now or soon would ensure that they will probably get along very well and grow up together and form that bond.

There really is no right time to add a new dog to the family.  If you are ready and can handle the responsibility of another then go ahead! Also, gender is not really relevant overall, it depends on your dog.  Has he seen other male or female dogs on walks or at the park, does he get along with both?  At this point its highly likely that either gender would be great because he is so young.  

If you decide not to add a new dog yet, just be sure to keep him socialized so that whenever you are the transition is easier, and because a socially balanced dog is a healthier one!
