| Comment | With all due respect, I don't think that you have enough understanding of our family to say that we are cruel to her because that is absolutely not the case. She is loved a ton and the only reason she is in the crate at all is because we HAVE to work to provide for ALL of our family, not just ourselves and the dog. I do appreciate your input; as far as the toys and nylabone, she's got them. As far as the length of time in the crate...as I said, 7 hours is the longest she's been in there and that is not the norm. I've consulted other trainers before this length of time is allowed. She has the largest crate you can get without giving her room to pee and poop in there and she could probably do that, so while she can't run around jumping over baby gates and such, she can move. I've had puppies before and crated them (as we've always been told to do) and never had this problem. That is why I came to this site, so that I could hopefully get some new answers. You've given me the same ones I've gotten before, and tried within our budget, only with a little side of cocky that I don't feel was deserved. Pet sitters are far and between around her (at least ones you can afford and trust) and our friends work as well. Being military, the family isn't an option. I am guessing we'll just do what we can because I'm not about to leave her outside during the day because of her short coat and the weather being so cold. Although she does love it. This is not an option because....believe it or not, we love her and looked for her for a long time. I know that it's difficult to solve a problem without actually seeing the situation and I am so glad that you responded with advice, but I just don't feel that going to the cruelty side is the best leap to make first thing. Thank you. | ||
