Question
My boxers weighs 47-50 lbs at 1 yr, is this normal, is he small or does he have a health issue?

Answer
Hi. It could be normal for him. It depends on a few things, if he has been fed a good food, allowed plenty of exercise, wormed, had good vet care, and is still on the smaller size, then I would look to his breeder and ask if their dogs grow at a slower rate. Some dogs do, you can't change their genetics.:-) Some dogs grow super fast and some are slower about it. You really want a Boxer that is a slow grower, they look better in old age. However, I would take him in for a check up just to make sure that everything's ok. if it is, then you'll just have to sit back and wait for him to finish growing.:-)

I have owned Boxers for twelve years, and have bred them for eight. I also took a vet assistance course just for my dogs. I have shown in dogs shows, just not a lot.

Education/Credentials
I took a two semester course to become a vet assistant. I didn't go further in it because I had a child.
