Boxers/Name of Bumps on Boxer

Question
QUESTION: I was wondering what causes, and what is the name of the bumps that are normally found on the face and under the chin on a boxer.  We have gotten ourselves a wonder girl that will be a year old next month...My husband is literally in love, he never knew a boxer was so wonderful

ANSWER: Hello Sandy,

Since your husband is so "in love" with your Boxer girl- and the breed (we all get hooked on Boxers once we own one!)...

I think he would LOVE joining a FREE Boxer forum. Boxer world.com

Since she is just 1 year old, it can be Boxer acne, or it can be the typical allergy to Plastic, i.e. plastic food and water bowl. Boxers are also prone to allergies for the nylon collar and I always recommend a nice leather one instead of nylon.

Food allergies are common-- a nice chicken and rice, duck and potato, lamb and rice, any natural dog food that DOES NOT contain corn and corn gluten-- Boxers are commonly allergic to those ingredients.

Boxerworld had a discussion on the forum board:

QUESTION: I guess I wasn't clear enough.  Its not acne nor an allergy reaction...I'm talking about the bumps that all boxes seem to have.  Almost like a wart-like with hair sometimes growing in them.  They appear on both sides of face like on the checks and under the chin  sometimes..they are absolutly normal..just wondering what the proper name was and what causes them in this breed
thanks  Sandy

Answer
Sorry, Sandy.

There isn't any "technical" name for that as far as I know or have ever heard.

It is a Boxer physical characteristic, and other breeds have it as well. German Shepherds are known for it too.

Every Boxer has one on each side of the face, and sometimes chin too.
