Question I need some advise on feeding my 10 month old Boxer. He was on burns when we got him at 9 weeks,I carried on giving him this and he was transfered over to the food from 6 months. He seemed to go off this,so I've tried him on a few different flavour but no good. I've also tried nature diet wet food along with the burns,he's still not eating this. I've tried him on James wb loved also, but is not eating. I have been advised by few people to try him on wagg along with the nature diet. Do you have any thought on this? Also suggestions on other dry foods,as its getting a bit costly now.
Answer Hi Lauren,
Please check out my website for holistic dog foods we recommend giving boxers at http://www.hitowerboxers.com/boxerfood.htm and to see what we feed. You might also try adding a gravy to his kibble. Adding a gravy made with can dog food and warm water usually helps most boxers eat well. Be sure and choose a puppy formula up until a year old. You might also try adding cheese to his food to stimulate his appetite but this will most likely be a temporary fix since your boxer seems to be finicky. Try buying the smallest bag possible, if the dog is truly hungry it will eat anything so don't think he is going to starve. No table food or feeding from your plate, treats, etc. as this just encourages him to not eat his food. The more often you change the food the more the dog will become finicky. Try a food at least 4-6 weeks minimum. Also a parasite checkup should be performed by your vet to rule out any underlying condition or any other problems which can have an adverse effect on the dog, many dogs stop eating because of parasite infestations or underlying health issues. If the dog hasn't eaten in several days like 3-4 then please see your vet ASAP. Thank you for your question.
