Question
Hi Angela,
We just purchased a 4 month old boxer pup and she still has her dew claws.  Would it be too hard on her to have her dew claws removed while she gets spayed?  We have another 2 1/2 year old neutered male boxer and he claws were removed when the tail was docked.  I can't understand why they didn't have it done when they docked her tail.  Thank you so much for any info you have.

Answer
Hi Nancy,

Yes it would be better to do it now when she is spayed than later and another surgery. I can't understand why they didn't have it done at birth when the tail was docked either, it is much better to have it done at birth before the nerves fuse. If you leave them she will most likely tear one off at some point causing her unnecessary pain. Thank you so much for your question.
