Boxers/Boxer females who fight

Question
My fiance and I have a 6 year old female boxer. We have had her for about a year. She has an excellent temperament and is very good with our kids. We recently decided to adopt another female who is 3 1/2. She also has a very good temperament and is neutered. Both dogs are very layed back so I thought that they would get a long. I was very wrong they fight and I have to keep them separated. They have both drawn blood and I don't know what to do to fix this. I love them both and would very much like to see them get a long. Please help.

Answer
Hi Amanda,

Someone should have told you that boxers of the same sex rarely get along unless raised together from puppies. Not littermates.Your females would both need to be spayed to help the situation. I would recommend calling in a local behaviorist to help you in the home if you decide to keep them both. Once the dogs draw blood there is little chance of them ever getting along, boxers seem to hold grudges so to speak. You may have to make a tough decision and re-home one of them. Thanks so much for your question.
