Boxers/Several pimple like bumps on white boxer

Question

Sugar
I own a 1 year old white boxer that just recoverd from a major outbreak of demotec manage after she went into heat. It was generalized. She was treated with cattle wormer at a dose/wt. She recovered great. Orginally the vet stated she would need to be put down. Hair is back in and filling in nicely but found two of the pimple type bumps on her shoulders. I would prefer not to have her go back on the cattle wormer and was wondering if they was a local treatment I could use for "spot" treating.

Answer
I am so glad you didn't take that vet's advice and "put her down." That is always a last resort for a dog in severe pain or illness that cannot be cured. Good call on your part, kudos to you.

Use a skin topical ointment on the bumps. A good one can be purchased at our local pet store.

Watch her closely for more pimple-like bumps, but an ointment should keep it under control. Why did the vet treat her with a "cattle wormer"? I have never heard of such a thing........
