Question
will he be able to adjust to the situation as he keeps bumping into things as he has gone down hill in the last week

Answer
Hi Joanne,

Ever dog is different in how they adjust, some do it very easily with guidance. Its important to help him out as much as possible. Don't rearrange furniture , food dishes, etc. You may find that having him on a short leash and guiding him for several weeks will ease the transition, walk him to his food and water bowls, outside to potty, to his bed ,etc. making sure to go the exact same way each time and using lots of encouragement/praise.It is important not to feel sorry for him as he will pick up on this type of energy and not do as well as he could with positive encouragement. Many dogs will do well with this type of guidance. He will have to adjust to using his sense of touch, hearing and smell only,it will take some time. I personally would crate him for his own protection when I wasn't home with food, water and a chew toy(like  a kong) filled with peanut butter or cheese to occupy him and relieve stress/boredom. You may also have to call him more times than usual for him to follow your voice, etc. Do it in a calm and relaxed manner. My heart goes out to you and your beloved boxer.I hope these tips will help you both adjust easily. Can you please tell me his color and markings and the diagnosis from your vet ? Thank you for your question.
