Question
Hello,

I have a fawn female that I want to breed and I have found a stud that I would like to breed her with, however he is all white. What kind of problems does that pose if any? He has one green eye and one brown eye.

Also her vulva appears to be quite swollen but not yet bleeding. And her nipples do appear to be a little larger than normal.does this give the inclination that she will be starting in season soon? She is 3 and had 2 litters already with her previous owner. Being that she has had 2 litters already, how many can she have safely in regards to her health.

Thank you in advance!
Michael

Answer
Michael,

Let me address a few things first:

She is 3 years old and already had 2 litters of puppies. This is enough for any bitch. I recommend no more. Another litter will age her and possibly kill her because of already having previous litters. It also increases her chances of getting ovarian cancer and breast cancer- which Boxers are prone to cancers.

Secondly- The Boxer Breeders Association and AKC recommend AGAINST breeding a white Boxer. This is due to their genetics. A white Boxer has an unusual gene and breeding white Boxers contaminates the Boxer gene pool.

Also, white Boxers are extremely prone to being born deaf or blind, and both deaf and blind. Some puppies loose their hearing and/or sight after a few months.

I do not recommend breeding your female and especially not to a white Boxer!

A heat season last approximately 30 days and has different stages.
