Question
Hello Jenni,

My pup is almost 11 months old. She is a happy energetic puppy. Lately I have noticed that her joints sometimes crackle when she gets up from a sitting position mainly her back legs like when we crack our knucles. Is that normal for a puppy as she is growing? It only happens when she gets up from sitting position, not while walking or playing . The last time I had taken her to the orthopedic he said he couldn't see anything wrong with her & that was just in June. Also she is given VIT C & fish oil & VIT E thrice a week with her raw food. Should I also supplement with Glucosamine aswell?

Thanks,
Shilpa.

Answer
She is awfully young for the Glucosamine supplements already.

Did the orthopedic doctor x-ray her hips, pelvis, and legs?

If there is a genetic history of problems, then the vet should know.

Raw diet is not good. I suggest a dog food (natural) with bone and joint supplements in it.

Talk to your vet-- her joints should not crackle or pop at 11 months old. She might have something more severe.
