Question
I plan on letting me female who is in heat mate with a male this week.  The owner of the male said I should give her calcium.  Is this true?  Calcium tablets?  what kind od food is good for her while she is pregnant?

Answer
NO! That is incorrect!!!!!!!!!!!

You do not give calcium to a female that is going to get pregnant or ANYTIME during the pregnancy!

It caused deformities of the puppies!

Go to your vet and get prenatal vitamin ONLY!

But, feed her puppy food all during the gestation and whelping, and nursing periods. Do not stop feeding her puppy chow.


Refer to your vet for prenatal vitamins and being on standby at whelping time for any emergency that might come uo-- and believe me, there are many.

Whelping and caring for newborn puppies IS NOT an easy task and a HUGE responsibility-- and risking the life of your female as well.
