Question
I have a 7 week old male boxer he is 8.5 pounds is that a good weight? we have had him since he was 5 weeks old he came from a bad bad home ! so we are very happy to have cash in our home .

Answer
Boxer puppies are born averaging 1 pound.

Since he is 7 weeks old, almost 2 months old, he should weigh more.

Genetics such as frame, bone structure; small, medium, large depending on parents, has a lot to do with overall size.

I think that is not enough weight for his age, but cannot tell without a picture. You can upload one here.

Does his ribs show? Does his pelvic bones protrude any? Does he appear normal? Does he appear healthy?

These are factors to consider.

Please upload a picture for me to see.
