Boxers/Breeding

Question
I have an 18 month old white boxer, female. I was just wondering what a good age to start breeding her would be. She's had 1 heat so far.

Answer
The recommended age for Boxers is atleast two years of age. Most people also recommend that white Boxers are not to be bred. It is of course a personal decision, but I'm giving you the heads up now. If you tell a show person, or other big breeder that you're breeding a white Boxer, you will be shunned like you have never been before in your life. If you have hopes of becoming a big breeder, or a show breeder, you may want to reconsider this, as your past will haunt you. I'm honestly not yelling at you, or putting you down. Just telling you the truth, and what to expect. I don't want you to take offense, I just want you to be prepared. What you choose to do with your breeding program is your business, but the Boxer community can be quite aggressive at times!

I have owned Boxers for twelve years, and have bred them for eight. I also took a vet assistance course just for my dogs. I have shown in dogs shows, just not a lot.

Education/Credentials
I took a two semester course to become a vet assistant. I didn't go further in it because I had a child.
