Question
We just bought a 9 wk old puppy. Will bring him home next week.Never had a puppy or a boxer. What steps should I be taking to prepare for him? Thanks, Mike

Answer
Hi Michael. Congrats on your new puppy! First of all, buy a crate for him. You can get them at Wal-Mart. Make sure it's not too big. Trust me, this is a wonderful thing. You can put him in it when you go to sleep, or if you go on a short trip during the day. Just don't leave him in it all day long. Buy a bag of the puppy food that he's currently on. Puppy proof your house. Boxers are known to be hyper and to chew. Stock up on some toys for him. Make an appointment with your vet to have him checked out. Good luck!

I have owned Boxers for twelve years, and have bred them for eight. I also took a vet assistance course just for my dogs. I have shown in dogs shows, just not a lot.

Education/Credentials
I took a two semester course to become a vet assistant. I didn't go further in it because I had a child.
