Boxers/whelping

Question
I have a boxer that is due anytime this week. I thought it may be last night, but when I got home she was really hyper. She hasn't been like this in a while. She laid around all weekend acting miserable. My question is: Do you think this is her last burst of energy before whelping, like humans in that they get that last burst of enery before labor. Is there any truth to this?

Answer
It very well could be. She should start to settle down soon. Watch for her to loose her mucus plug. It's this thick, clear, gunky, stringie stuff that comes from her vulva. When she looses this, labor should start 24-48 hours later. This may be your girl's last hurrah before whelping. :-)

Education/Credentials
I took a two semester course to become a vet assistant. I didn't go further in it because I had a child.
