Question
QUESTION: Hi. My Name is Santiago Ajanel, I'm 14 years old (will be 15 in May), and I'd Like to Learn how to become a boxer and a pro boxer, which I know has a legal Age requirement.

I'm learning a little bit of boxing from a friend who learned boxing from his brother. My inspiration for this came from watching and anime called "Hajime No Ippo".

I'm in high school at the moment and currently on Vacation until March.

If you can give me any advice that would be helpful. Also, do you know where I can find a video of the "Dempsey Roll"?
It was a move created by Jack Dempsey.

ANSWER: Santiago,

You should get as many amateur fights as possible before turning pro. You should try and find a gym that is franchised by golden gloves or one that has usa boxing registration. You will register as an amateur boxer which makes you eligible to fight in any amateur show. You will start as a novice for awhile and when your trainer feels your ready you will then become an open fighter. I am not familiar with the video from Dempsey but I'm sure you could google the title.
Ringside.com sells instructional videos from great trainers. I would consider one of those to get you started. My trainer Ace Miller is one of the selections and I would suggest his vid. This should get you rolling.

QUESTION: Are amateur fights the ones where you wear headgear or is it something Different?

Also, is there another way I can reach other than allexperts.com?

Answer
Hello Santiago,

All amateur boxers must wear headgear. Only pros do not. Even Olympic competition requires headgear.

We cannot give out our personal info on this site due to regulations.
