Question
I hope the year has been great to ya, my question is i am just getting back into boxing/muay thai, My buddy said to buy the heaviest bag to work out on (he has a 100lb bag)but i didn't know about that,in your opinion what would you start out with...say and 80lb and work up to a 100lb bag??

Answer
Hi Ed, and happy new year to you also.

The answer to your question may depend on YOUR size, for if you're a giant of a guy (say, 6ft 5in, 350 pounds...) you may need a heavier bag than us "normal" folks, but from my own experience an 80 pound bag is usually big enough. Of course, there are may types of bags, (covers, thickness, fill material, top hund, floor stands etc.) to chose from. Here are some options:

and notice the "Thai" bags are long and lean.

These allow for "low kicks", which regular size bags do not.

Good luck with your choice and I hope this helps.

sincerely
