Question
Hello Mr. Hofer,

I want to become a boxer very badly, a professional in the future. I am 18, 6'1" and about 240 pounds. I have a big build with big legs but could afford to lose 35 to 40 pounds, I think. I would like to know about the appropriate diet and training, it is difficult to get to a boxing gym until a couple of months from now. I am now running about 2 miles a day and three days a week. Any help on diet and training would be very appreciated. I love this sport and thank you very much.

Answer
High protein type diet with low carbs will work the best.  Training for boxing flat out needs a trainer, as there is much to learn.  You can learn a few things from videos and books.  I sell some of that on my website at www.boxingdonright.com

Thanks,

Joe
