Question
hi my name is Adrian and i am 16 and about 5'6" 140 lbs. I live in Phoenix AZ. i've been training for about 2 years but never to fight just to be in shape. Now im ready to step it up a knotch. what exactly do i need in order to compete. For example what type of shirt or trunks or shoes do i need?

Answer
You will need to register with USA Boxing in order to compete in sanctioned shows.  You'll need a copy of your birth certificate, 2 head shot pictures, and pay a yearly membership fee (January through December).  You should get boxing trunks and a tank top - the trunks must have a contrasting waistband and should be a different color from the tank top.  You will also need USA Boxing approved competition headgear and a protective cup.  You will also need a registered and certified coach working your corner.  If you need to know where to register in Phoenix, please email me at mel@amateurboxing.com and I'll send you a contact.
