AnswerHi Johnathan,
If you want to become a pro-boxer, than the only tried and true path is to start in an "organized and sanctioned" (supervised by people in boxing gyms or programs that have legitimate credentials to do it boxing gym or community program that follows the rules of your state, and takes boxers to sanctioned boxing tournaments in the state, region and nationals. Depending on where you live, you will need to find a boxing program, or gym that has a program for guys (and girls) your age, and takes them (team) to tournaments such as golden gloves, silver gloves, local or state sanctioned matches etc. The sport of competitive boxing and youth boxing that funnels up to the olympic level is controlled by USAboxing.org
http://www.usaboxing.org/
I suggest you Read all links on that website to familiarize yourself with the rules and terminology.
Here are some other types of sanctioned tournaments
http://www.ringside.com/TournamentInfo.aspx
http://www.ohiostatefair.com/osf/osf3.htm#Sporting
(* click on the boxing competition link and find the ohio state fair tournament. Many state fairs have sanctioned tournaments. )
competiting in these sanctioned tournaments will build your official record book and rounds boxed which has to be recorded and maintained.
You will also have to pass various physicals to be allowed into many tournaments.
As you work your way through the age and weight brackets of recognized amatuer boxing, you will make a name for yourself, perhaps attract the Olympic level coaches at the junior olympics, or college coaches etc.
But it all starts at that local level as I describe earlier.
Keep your dream and if you want it, don't let anyone distract you from your goal(s). Concentrate, focus and give this full effort, no drugs, and honest hard work. Who knows? maybe in a few years, I'll see you on a big pay-per-view boxing card!
Good luck.
sincerely,
