Question
hey i just recently started boxing, and i wanna buy a nice pair of everlast boxing gloves, i was wondering what the best size would be for me, im 6"0 and have pretty 189 lbs, and have medium/kinda large hands, i wanna make sure i get the right size gloves so i can box right, and so that i dont hurt myself in the process.

Answer
Hi John.

Congratulations on starting your boxing training.

Glove sizes are kind of a mystery because they are currently some many types and styles.  I would always recommend this tip about Gloves found on Boxinggyms.com
http://boxinggyms.com/tips/gloves_size.htm

Wrap your hands first to get a better feel for the glove size you will need. IF you are going to train in boxing seriously, you will probably wrap your hands under the glove. A solid wrap will add at least one size to your optimal glove.  To be sure and get the right size, I would call Titleboxing toll free at 1.800.999.1213 and ask them for help on sizing their glove products - or - Ringside Boxing (read the page bottom on this link) http://www.ringside.com/boxinggloves.aspx?CategoryID=2368 toll free Toll free : 1.877.426.9464

Both of these companies should give you first class advice on getting the correct size on the gloves they have.

But if you go to a local sporting goods store, be sure to use hand wraps on your fist when you try the gloves on. If you prefer not to do that, you would probably need the largest size they have (hand size, not weight. You don't need over a 14-16 oz bag glove).

Good luck and I hope this helps you find the equipment you need.
